The 40's


1940:

O World War II puts the fashion in the background.The cost of fabric is rising and rayon made his appearance as a more affordable proposal. Fashion takes a more military and imposing look. The shoulders are accented with light padding, not only in suits and dresses. All this until 1947 when the Christian Dior make revolution and creating the New Look. The basic silhouette, known as line A, is conical, emphasizes the waist, with natural shoulders, while the length of the skirt plays from mid knee to mid shin. The fabrics used are the taffeta, velvet, the muslin and satin. Displaying the pattern and the first prêt-à-porter.

LOOKS

Dominate the small and printed in black and white bicolour. Dresses that fit around the waist, dresses accented waist and shoulder pads. Blouses that button like shirts, women's suits in masculine line pleats in skirts, tight straight skirts combined with tiny sweater.

ACCESSORIES

BEAUTY MAKEUP

The eyebrows are natural but toned, light mascara, lip pencil and soft pinktones. Also women

painted their legs to give the feel of pantyhose, making even the seam backwithblack pencil.
